If it refuses to show that it's been authorized for your Mac after you install the 2016 version of the suite, you may need to run an uninstaller and reboot before reinstalling and signing in again with your Office 2016 account credentials. Trash the Office apps from your Applications folder and reinstall from the October 13th Office Suite installer here: (Office 2019 perpetual/365-subscription.)Įasy peasy to go back to the right version (most of the time). My guess is that you've somehow ended up with v16.42. So I have no idea why we are in this terrible scenario. I am sorting this out, but we purchased perpetual licenses for Office 2016 when we bought these Macs. This is to try to force me to update to Office 365.

I cannot edit with Microsoft Word documents. Outlook can no longer sync with calendars or email. I did a standard auto update, and today's 'update' breaks Office 2016 for the Mac on two separate work machines. The Office that is now on my Mac is 16.16.27, the last version from Sept 2020. The link went to this installer file: Microsoft_Office_1200_Installer.pkg So if this worked for you, my guess is that you had actually been auto-updated to Office 2019 (16.42.0) instead of the latest Office 2016 build.

Go back to Office 2016 for Mac after upgrading to Office 2019 for Mac"Īnd links to this page, which has the download to 16.16.27 which is the Oct version you said you wanted to avoid. The link you posted was for "How to go back to Office 2016 for Mac 15.xx versions from 16.xx" And that gives the download links to a 15.xx version from 2017. I would have suggested the 16.16.26 build from Sept 15th.

When was the last time you had update before today?
